PRESS: Tinkoff Bank offers super app with multiple services

MOSCOW, Dec 10 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Tinkoff Bank has upgraded its application with the Services window, the new version for iOS became available on Monday and the version for Android will be released by the New Year, business daily Vedomosti reported on Tuesday.

The bank underlined certain letters in its press release, which make up a phrase “Checkmate, Sber (Sberbank), Yandex and Mail(.ru Group)”.

Sberbank together with Internet company Mail.ru Group, social network VKontakte and Internet company Yandex, as well as Tinkoff Bank earlier announced plans to launch a super application, which will allow users to receive financial and consumer services.

The super application is the one that allows users to make an appointment with a doctor, order in, book a table at a restaurant or call a taxi, to name a few options.

Sberbank First Deputy Chairman Lev Khasis said in November that the bank does not plan to make a super application as the single sign-on for all resources. The bank, however, applied for trademark SuperApp. A Sberbank spokesperson said it was registered for the future.

A spokesperson for Mail.ru Group, owner of VKontakte, said the social network’s mobile application already has all the features of a super application: open platform VK Mini Apps integrates 11,000 projects, payment system VK Pay and e-commerce floor AliExpress Russia.
